About the Upstate Bagpiper
Andrew Greer is a bagpiper from Greer, SC. As a member of the City of Greenville Pipes and Drums, and the Grandfather Mountain Highlander Pipe Band, Andrew has become incredibly immersed in the culture of Scottish heritage and the music from the British Isles. He has competed across the Southeast and has won numerous awards. Andrew's primary instructor has been Jimmy McIntosh, who is a large figure in the world of bagpiping. Others who have aided in Andrew's development include; Terry Tully, Robert Mathieson, Gordon Warburton, Michael White, Malcolm Williams, Rick Pitts, and Roger Kilpatrick. Outside of bagpiping, Andrew is engaged in music by being an SCMEA All-State level trombonist. Andrew hones his classical chops by performing with the Carolina Youth Symphony. When not engaged in musical activities, he also participate spend time playing lacrosse competitively for Byrnes High School.
